This Spotmatic F came from a camera shop junkbox. Meter didn't work, leatherette peeling and worn, it was shot. I picked it up for a measly 7 bucks. But then......

I took it apart and did a CLA on it, fixed the wire to the meter, peeled off the tired leatherette, and installed Wine Red Snakeskin from Akihiro Asahi in Japan. It's an all new camera! I use this camera quite often, it's one of my most reliable. Randy Jay

Wow... how did you do the skin thing? Is there a website I could learn how to do that on? I might consider getting something in green or maybe a diamondback pattern...

The cover came pre-cut and with the adhesive already installed, all I had to do was remove the old one, clean the camera, and install the new cover. You can get this cover for $13 US with free shipping from: ASAHI COVERS. Give it a try!

Randy,
The camera looks good, but my interest here was the car. I only had one muscle car in my lifetime, it was the very same year and color but it was a Dodge 440.

Not bragging or guilding the lilly here, but I've had 11 Plymouth Road Runners. Two Dodge Challengers, 2 Dodge Coronets (one '66 500, and one '67 R/T) and one '71 Dodge Demon. I like Mopars.

Good Job on the Spotmatic. I never had a muscle car started driving after the first gas crisis and mileage was important

well since we seem to be discussing our collector car pasts.............I would be re-miss if I didn't mention....Hmmm....musclecars....OK .....well first Hudsons......they were NASCAR champions in the early years....'51-'54. I have owned 5 of them. And also I have owned 5 '69-'70 Olds 442s....big block musclecars with class!

I was one of this folks who marched to a different muscle car drummer. Had a 1965 English Ford Lotus Cortina GT -- dual overhead cam and two side draft Weber carbs. British racing green with a light accent stripe along the side. Ugly as sin. Couldn't keep up with the big American iron in a straight line but gave the muscle car guys fits on a winding road. The mustang had just come out and I ruined the days of a lot of Pony owners. The Cortina would smoke a stock Mustang V-8--just drove 'em nuts. Unfortunately, I had a close encounter with a very large German Shepherd at about 80 mph. Totaled the car but got $2,500 for the engine -- in 1967! Weren't many Lotus Continas made. Today it would fetch a pretty penny. So would the two Leica M3s I had back in the '70s. Story of my life:)

Nice job on the Spotmatic but then you are preaching to the converted. I have an SP1000 and I am looking for another Spottie for the fleet.
