Hi,
Feeling rather pleased with myself. This morning I picked up a near mint OM10 with the standard Zuiko 1.8 50mm lens. I gave about half the average price they're fetching on Ebay - and no postage to pay! It's the first Olympus SLR I've had, and I've heard excellent reports.
Taking me a little while to figure out all the controls, they seem different from most SLRs, but a friend is bringing over an instruction manual this evening.

Congrats Peter, I don't own an Olympus. You might be able to get an online manual.

Peter,
Can't figure out how to use the controls? An ol' experienced photog like you???
Well, let me tell you something. I must confess that on my Kiev 4M, there appears to be duplicate controls on the right and left...and...I cannot figure it out...and I do not want to break something...so I have never used the camera.
I do have an instruction manual but it is in Russian and me no speaky or readie that language. I contacted the Kiev USA importers and they quoted $50 for an English version...uh...a little too much for me.
Thought for sure I could figure it out, but admittingly can not.

Hi Ron, Never afraid to admit when I'm puzzled. What had me a bit foxed was the manul operation setting. I now find that a 'manual adaptor' is necessary for full manual operation and that this plugs into the front of the camera. With regard to your Kiev 4M I believe that except for a few cosmetic changes to the control dials it's the same as the Kiev 4. Both are basically the same as the Contax II (the pre-war one). If you want to have a look at a manual of the Kiev 4 try www.butkus.org/chinon/kiev-4/kieva-a-splash.htmPeter
