Thread title says it all. Can you charge an EOS DSLR with a USB port like you would a Palm Pilot or an iPod? I've seen a few of these for sale on eBay without battery chargers, and I wanted to know if I'd end up having to buy the chargers seperately if I bought the camera sans charger.

Hmm never tried it but I doubt it. There are plenty of chargers on ebay for the batteries the cameras use. At least that's true of my Canon 350D.

The camera USB port is purely bi-directional data transfer only and will not therefore charge a battery in the camera, so yes, you will need an external charger.
EOS digital cameras are sold with a charger as part of the kit, even when it's just a camera body, so it makes me wonder why these ebay sellers are selling cameras without chargers......?

they break up the kits and seel the piecses seperatly. Yes you will need a charger
