I got this at a fleamarket for $30 today. Probably paid to much, but it did come with a polarizer and a close-up kit(with three close up lenses). Camera works great, the old battery tests like new too. The mirror damper needs replacing, so I will get to that sometime, but I really want to run some film through this one. Seems to be built really well, and seems to be from the late 70s-early 80s or so. Has a nice bayonet style lens mount and a 50mm yashica lens with it. Unfortunately, the close-up kit only fits that style(52) of lens front mount, so I cannot use it on my other stuff without some sort of adapters. Has anyone else used one of these before? Doesn't seem to be a common camera, but not very desirable either. Anyway, enough typing, here are the pics! As always, please click to enlarge. Edited for: Typo

I had a Yashica FR once and was impressed by it's build. It reminded me of a Contax RTS in a way. I don't know if that line of thought was true but Yashica had close ties with Contax. If you run into some old Contax lenses they should also work on the FR II, I believe. I notice too that on the wind lever there is a marking, diamond with EP within it, that indicates that it was bought at a military post exchange. Let us know how it goes with the picture taking.

I am ashamed to admit I needed to look up the term "bodge"! Haha
I will keep an eye out for rings, and thank you for the information!

Yep, you can see that this baby is solidly built. It's amazing how much information we can gather from a photo. You'd think you'd need to hold it in your hands to know this thing is a tank but, somehow, I seem to get enough cues from the photos to feel in my mind what this would feel like in my hands. Trippy.

Here is a period image for the Yashica. The typewriter is an olivetti lettera 31, and phone is a yellow 500 series.
