This was given to me by a friend and is one neat-o camera! It works great, so I might give it a roll(no pun intended.. ) sometime. It is a Olympus XA, and has a manual rangefiner mechanism, feather touch shutter control, thumb wheel winder, and proprietary detachable flash. It has manual speed adjustments and auto settings. Looks like mediocre-quality glass in it too. Here are the pics.

Alex, the XA is one of my all-time favourite cameras. It produces amazing images for such a small compact. The lens vignettes quite a bit wide open but that often adds atmosphere to the image. It's a very sharp lens.

Maybe the best "point and shoot" ever made. Congratulations.

The Olympus Stylus Epic is also a great P&S, but the advantage the XA has is adjustable aperture and shutter speed.

Wayne and GeneW are correctg (not that they need my validation). The XA by any measure is an outstanding camera. Incidentally, so are the XA2, 3 and 4, which share the same bodiy shape and size, but have various and to some extent, lesser features. The XA4 is 28mm rather than 35mm and has the ability to shoot as close as 12 inches or so. The XA2 and XA3 are zone focus, but at least as sharp as the XA.
Anyway, you are certain to enjoy your XA.

Ah, I love these little guys, enjoy the XA! I notice the distance scale is in feet (unsurprising, I always assumed the US models did), that might be a bit tricky, thank goodness I got mine in europe Now back to hunting for that elusive XA4....

Shoot, the XA has such a nice rangefinder, I don't even need the focus to be labeled.

Hi Alex,
Mine is scaled in meters, there's an 'm' after the infinity mark. You will like the sharp lens I think. If you take the flash off, it's really compact. My meter doesn't show the correct speed in the viewfinder, but it does expose correctly. The viewfinder display is sluggish. Took me a while to trust the exposure but it seems correct. Definitely take it for a spin!
