Some shots from the AE-1

Well, I finally decided to run some film through the Canon AE-1. So here are some shots I got from my first roll using Kodak Ultramax 800spd color film. All lenses used are Canon FD lenses.

Please critique, I am still a photography newbie and need some guidance..

35mm-70mm macro zoom lens. "Chopped Lettuce"


50mm lens. "Mother Time"


35-70 macro and I turned it into B&W on the computer. "Deco Day"


50mm lens. "Chunky Pug"


28mm lens. This was a little out of focus, but it has a bird in it, so I thought it was a decent image.

These were taken with Kodak Gold 200.

A crystal paperweight.

Canon FD 35mm-70mm macro. My favorite lens.

My non-functional T90, which I long to use. Hopefully I can send it off soon.

Nice pictures, Alex, especially the close-up of your pug.

I agree with you about Canon's 35-70 'short zoom'. I have both the 3.5 macro version and the older 4.5 non-macro version. Both are beautiful lenses. The 3.5 is my standard user lens. I find it covers 90% of the pictures I want to take.

The T90 can do almost anything you ask of it.
I used mine for nearly 20 years and only surrendered it to digital after a mighty battle with myself.
I still use it occasionally to remind me what a real camera feels and sounds and hefts like.
My favourite lens was and still remains the Vivitar Series I 24-70 mm macro zoom.
The Sigma 70 to 210 mm f4 to 5.6 eventually replaced a Vivitar Series I 70 to 210 mm f3.5 Macro Zoom because of weight but the Vivitar still gets used once in a while.
My lenses range up to a Sigma f8 600mm mirror lens.
I have the matching Canon 300TL flash which together with the T90 make an unbeatably versatile combination.
I also have Canon's excellent Auto Bellows.

If it sounds like I am bragging I am but for the Canon T90 and its great versatility and reliability, not for me.

After you have yours repaired and you use it I am sure you will return, guiltily, to this thread and remove that "pesky" adjective.

P.S. By the way, what is attached to the bottom of your T90?

P.P.S. I just fired off a few shots for old time's sake. It is still the greatest.

That is the battery compartment for 4x AA batteries. Does yours not have that?

Bragging just comes with owning T90s I guess, as they are something to behold(or be held) when looking at. I will be on the lookout for some new lenses, maybe even the ones you mentioned.

Oh, my pug always looks sad(even when he plays), it is part of the pug's look, which people like me find extremely endearing to look at. Some folks think they're ugly, but pug lovers are attracted to the saddened look.
