Hi Andrew, Here are some pics of the shutter release mechnism on older 6x9 Voigtländer folders. Pics of other makes to follow soon. This is the type of left-hand shutter trigger on Voigtländer 6x9 folders that I find awkward to handle. Points where the Voigtländer 6x9 mechanism can get stiff and jerky. Because the parts are riveted they aren't easy to take apart and clean. I generally find that doses of lighter fluid and constant working frees them up eventually. Looking from the front, the finger on the release arm operates on a pin on the Compur shutter. If it doesn't meet the pin squarely this can add to the effort needed.

Peter! Absolutely brilliant illustration and detail of the mechanism! It makes it very clear now what you referring too.
At a quick glance it does look the same as a Bessa RF tho and indeed if you are accustomed to using a camera (as most folders are!) with the bed opened to the bottom in portrait mode then I see your point glaringly. Operating the shutter release from that position is arkward with these. And it also occurs to me that if you were to sit the camera on its foot for a timed exposure one would have to use a cable as well ..hehe or poke your finger into the space underneath! I guess it just never occurred to me to use it that way, I mostly hold the camera with the shutter and door to the top when shooting portrait mode with these…and now I am checking how I hold the other cameras LOL it is not something that I have consciously been aware of..you make me think too much LOL now I am going to be all self-conscious when I am using it haha.
Great pictures and detail…is it easy to place the red lines and text on the image? Does one particular program do it easier than another? The program that came with my awkward antique digital camera that I hate using because it has no idea about correct exposure or flash settings, not to mention I could swim to Tasmania and back before it focuses…. and then it focuses on the wrong spot! Rotten thing! Anyway the program for it doesn’t do the red lines and such

better late than never!? i happend to be playing around with this bessa the other day and i remembered to take a picture for comparison against your standard bessa. some of the issues that you address Peter seem to have been improved with the Bessa RF. you can see the trigger asssembly moves within a fairly solid guide platform (green). the yellow marked peice with the slot is to allow the front standard (red marked peices) to move forward or backward coupled to the rangefinder. the pivot rivet (a ryme!) seems to work well, perhaps it is improved as well, it sits on a flat surface and looks solid enough so perhaps that helps. In the second picture i am depressing the trigger
