Ordered the Nikon 18-200 f3.5, 5.6VR lens last night. In the past lenses that try to be all things to all people tend to wind up pleasing no one. But the 18-200 Nikkor gets good reviews the main criticism being the noticeable distortion you'll get at both the top and bottom of the zoom range. But with Photoshop it's really not that hard to correct those problem. Plus the VR is supposed to give you three-to-four extra stops so you can even shoot telephoto in less than idea lighting conditions. I wanted a lens that would minmize the need to switch lenses, particularly when traveling. Hope it's a good as advertised. It's pretty amazing when you zoom to 200mm and the lens telescopes out two additional sections that almost double its length.
