I picked up a load of old/odd/collectible cameras recently. One is a Kodak Premo No 1 folding camera from the early 1900's. The release button to open the camera fell off in my hand when I was trying to open the camera. Anyone have a good idea on how to get this camera opened without damaging it too much? Assistance appreciated.

I have a couple of old EKC Premo plate cameras. One is a No. 4 and the other is just marked "Premo Camera". Both are opened by a button that is hidden beneath the camera's leather covering.
If yours has the same kind of opening device, the hidden button pushes down on a wide (Approx. 1/4") spring attached to the underside of the top of the camera. The spring has a dimple on its top that slides into a slot in the bellows track to keep it closed.
By inserting a round, blunt ended screw or, possibly, the original button if you still have it, the drop bed should open.
I could not find a picture of the Kodak Premo No 1. If I have not described your camera, I have a lot of old folding Kodaks. A picture of yours might enable me to match the closing mechanism to one of mine.
