I have a pair of newish J-8's, the all black model. They are good performers and are fine except for one thing. The aperture ring is too loose on one, and too tight on the other. They might benefit from a collimation too, although there are no obvious focusing problems. I was wondering if anyone does CLA's on these, and what your rates might be?
Thanks, Michael

Michael
Do you mean the video cameras? I would have thought they were more of a throwaway item - can you even open then up?
Regards - John

Michael, Oleg Khalyavin, see www.okvintagecamera.com/People usually speak well of his work and the postal service seems to work. PS. I just checked his site, he only services lenses with camera, not separately. take a look anyway.

I don't think Oleg (OK) works on just lenses. Plus the postage to Russia has increaed to the point where it would probably cost more than the price of a lens. The Black J8s were different from the "white" models. On the black lens the whole front barrel rotates when focusing. On the older white lenses on the focusing ring at the back of the lens rotates.

Oleg fixed a Canon IIIa for me that needed new curtains. He is excellent. But I don't know either if he works on lenses separately. I will try to track down Brian Sweeney and see if he is still available. Kim Coxon did a CLA on two of my lenses previously, and wrote a great guide, but I have more than two thumbs (per hand)...
Yes, Wayne, these are the kind where the whole front barrel rotates when focusing. The glass is great, I just am looking for a little fine-tuning on the aperture ring. I may have to attempt it myself..
