An interesting angle for this photo and some fine old vintage brickwork. Illustrates the perils of flat roofs too, lots of standing water just pooling there. Nicely done.

Superb! Our local stately pile is the residence of the Earls of Wilton - Heaton Hall. Owned now by Manchester Council (who have never looked after it), it is actually famous for it's "monumental chimney-stacks". Nice to see somebody else keeping up the tradition! The other claim to fame is that Heaton Park is the biggest Municipal Park in Europe ("You know its the countryside - its got railings around it"!). As you can probably guess, I'm quite proud of it. The boroughs around it were never part of Manchester, so the council weren't particularly keen on spending money on its upkeep, and it got very run down. The local boroughs have since been incorporated into "Greater Manchester" and have applied pressure on the council to restore it to former glories. I'm sorry for highjacking your lovely post Wahoo. Just that I spent my childhood there! www.manchestergalleries.org/our-other-venues/heaton-hall/the-hall/Regards - John
