Pretty good news. Went to the doc today, with slight misgivings because I can't get out and about as much as a year ago, for my annual checkup. After prodding me and generally pulling me about, asking a lot of questions about my hobbies and interests, some of which seemed to be somewhat irrelevant, and doing various tests for a while, he said: "Well, you've been registered with me for 37 years, and I've just looked back over your medical records for the past 15 years. For an eighty-year-old you haven't worn too badly. Probably because your diet's been very healthy, and you kept active, physically and mentally - and the latter's very important at your age. "Your heart looks and sounds OK, and your blood pressure's very good. Your reaction times and mental response times have slowed a little but they're still both above average. "Apart from slight hardening of the arteries caused by a lifetime's smoking - which I warned you about last year, rheumatism and slowed circulation in your legs, and a touch of arthritis in your hands, overall you're in pretty fair fettle. Not bad at all. Stay physically active within reason, but take it a bit easier now you've got an electric buggy. Unless something unforseen crops up I'll see you again on your next birthday." He must think I'm good for at least another 12 months. (Big sigh of relief! ). So it looks as if you're stuck with me for a while longer yet. BTW, nice quote from I can't remember who: "In the big wide world, adapt the way you live to suit your environment. In your own home adapt the environment to suit the way you want to live." PeterW

That's great news Peter. I quit smoking 9 years ago.

Peter, the seemingly irrelevant questions were to see if you still have your wits about you by making you keep switching topics. Apparently you kept all the balls in the air without dropping any. Good show.

Well you have a better life philosophy than me Peter.
My first thought on waking in the morning is: "Made it..." Glad you're managing to keep a straight bat!
Best Regards - John

Peter: Any day on the green side of the sod is a good day, in my book. Glad the doc seems to think you're doing OK. As Mickey said, that's good news for all of us.

hehe your a funny bugger. you no doubt doing better than me and i'm around half your age
great to hear your doing well Peter. you remind me of my dear freind, Uncle Jim i call him. he's sprite Yorkshire gentlemen of your years and apart from lossing an eye in the past few years and a little height; used to be 6 foot 3 or 4 and looked me straight in the eye but now seems to have lost an inch or so. it doesnt deter him at all though, he is quit witted, always on the go and still entertaining people with throwing parties.

We're not "stuck" with you, Peter. This band of ruffians is much the better for your presence! Thanks for being here! Roy
