Our Academy of Sciences reopened.. here are a few pictures from opening day. We used to live near the original one, it was great fun taking my daughter there. Of course I like some of the new things in this museum, and I miss some of the old things that were on display. They've kept a few touches from the old museum, as reminders of it. The location in Golden Gate Park is the same, but it's been completely demolished and rebuilt. I feel lucky to have known and visited the old one so many times.. and I plan to visit this one many times too.

I enjoyed the old museum on numerous occasions also. My wife grew up in San Francico and she practically lived in Golden Gate Park as a kid. Will have to come down to see this new structure. Thanks for giving me an excuse to come to San Francisco!

Hi Roy, you might want to call ahead first. My daughter reports long lines when she went there last weekend. Probably during the week would be better. I think you will like the Steinhart Aquarium, they did an excellent job on it. The planetarium is state of the art, multiple computerized projections, but I haven't seen it yet. Let me know what you and your wife think of it, I'd be curious to hear since you frequented the original museum.
