Help me, O Wise Ones! Is this a light leak or a shutter problem? The camera in question is a Ricoh KR5 Super that has been working perfectly up 'til this roll. Taken with a variety of lenses. ? ???Roy

Hi Roy
Looks like a light leak to me. A good indication is if it varies between shots (reflecting how long there was between the shots, and how much time there was for light to affect the film). My daughter had the same effect that only showed up badly when she was out in Africa. The intense sunshine got through the light seal much more fiercely than when she was at home.
You can confirm it by covering the light seal with a thick black woollen thread as you put the film in, then close the camera. If that film doesn't show the problem, then you need to replace the seals. Or just leave the thread in !!
Regards - John
ps I don't count as a 'Wise One' - I've just seen those symptoms before!

Light leak, more than likely on the clasp side rather than the hinge.

Thanks Guys. That's pretty much what I thought. I'm going to replace the seals and bumper, and see what happens. Roy
