About a fifteen to twenty minute walk from my house to this scene. I drove as I was carrying the camera and tripod! Perigee is the point of an eliptical orbit that is closest to earth. January 10, 2009, perigee and full moon coincided. Sunset and moonrise were nearly coincident, the moon rising about twenty minutes before sunset. Here's the result. The image still isn't quite what I am looking for but with some tweaking of brightness and contrast I was able to get close. I used Fuji 400 print film in Canon EOS 10S with Canon 100-300 zoom @ 300mm. The goal is a horizontal composition with the moon closer to the horizon and twilight balancing the moon's brightness, hopefully keeping detail in the foreground and the moon. The picture has been in my head since I moved down here, just haven't been able to capture it yet! Bill

Casual Collector, like Wayne said, tricky shot, but the results are fantastic. I love the portrait setting; the colors and the exposure are absoulutely gorgeous. The sphere of the moon is perfectly captured. Fabulous looking film too. Everytime I tried shots like this, I totally blew it.
