A little less snow here. Supposed to get up in the low 40s over the weekend. This is my truck which, because of my injuries, is still operating on gas gas I pumped into it on Nov. 22, 2008. 12-24mm Tokina zoom with some correction supplied by Photoshop.

Excuse my ignorance Bob - what do you mean by fake/fake ? The pictures seem great. Huge depth of field, but I would have thought that came from the lens you used, with the film speed having little effect?
And while I'm showing my ignorance:-
Wayne - Do they really make a 20-24mm zoom? Hardly seems worth the effort...
Regards - John

After twenty five years in Vermont, I'm not complaining. We saw sub-freezing temperatures on Florida's Treasure Coast this morning. 30 degrees when I left for work.
Bob, I hear you've seen 30 below zero lately!

I corrected my post. I was referring to the fact that I prefer the look of the digital images from the D700 at 800 to film 800. Some say the digital looks fake because it is too smooth.
Wayne
I envy your temps and lack of visible snow in your photo. It is getting hazardous to drive in town with all the high snow banks blocking your view especially when leaving your own driveway.
Bill
Yea we have just had a cold snap but it is warmer now. There must be a reason that there are so many Canadian snowbirds in places like Florida, Texas and Arizona. Maybe one day I'll figure it out or can it be the temperatures.
Bob
Can you say cabin fever?

We've actually had an above nomal snow year in the mountains, which is good, but it comes and goes in the valley. It's unusual for snow to stay on the ground more than a week or two at a time here. This has been a colder winter than recent ones, too. We've have some single digit temps. About every 20 years we get hammered on temps. The last really bad year was 1990 when the temp dropped to 25 below zero and stayed there for two weeks. Had the same sort of cold snap in 1972.

I dunno, Bob. Those look pretty good to me. Probably had to stop way down with that ME, hence the tremendous depth of field with that 28. Yer givin' me the itch to get mine fixed! I know, "get another one," but I don't want another one! Roy

Yea, was stopped way down, F16 or 22, even with the polarizer on as a stand in ND. I know too that it is hard not to want to fix old friends even though it makes no real economical sense to do so.
Wayne
My memory is a little hazy but I seem to recall a cold snap here to about 1990 or so. When it gets that cold here we usually share it with the northern states. Just seems the neighborly thing to do when you have too much of something. I think Homeland Security is still trying to figure out how to stop that too.

Nice pix, Bob. It's been colder, with more snow than usual around here, too. This was my mailbox last Sunday.

Bob, it looks seriously cold, as I know it has been. Good shots! If spring gets delayed, you can always plant some snow in your planters :-) Gene
