Plague Houses The local manor - unusual as it's in the middle of the village A nicely proportioned brick-built house. There are millions around the country. This is the only one in the village Ouch!! Where my jokes would have got me! Another odd claim to fame. Eyam has one of the first piped water systems since the Romans left (1588). The water flowed around the village by gravity feed into strategically placed troughs, where householders could help themselves to a bucketful. Not just the people either - these two are next to the church, and are for horses and dogs Regards - John
