Our town is pretty stark in the winter (especially the area down by the tracks) when the trees all lose their leaves and everything turns brown. But there are daffodill sprouts in our flowerbed at home and in a few weeks things will be turning green again.

Now that's a straight piece of track! Out here the track has more curves than Ann Margaret.

Our daffodils are out - always the first for miles around, although the rain tried to flatten them. One of our rhododendrons is in full blossom too, although that seems to be following the calendar - it used to flower at Christmas, but it's getting later and later.
Peter and Rachel will have seen the daffs much earlier - a 'growing season' thing.
Regards - John

Hi John,
Our local council plants lots of daffodils around the town. Usually these flower at the end of February or beginning of March. A few, but only a few, are in full flower at the moment, most of them are in the budding stage. The weather has been quite mild but for some reason all the flowers seem late this year.

My daffodils are just starting to flower. There are two out in the back garden but I think that's all at the moment. It has been very cold this year. The rhodendrons are not showing any signs of flowering yet. There has been a good display of snow drops and crocuses this year. John, we are not in the balmy south here ... more like the freezing east

You poor souls. All of you. Tch. Tch. Tch.
Today we are revelling in a touch of sunshine and a torrid -2℃.
Flowers? What are they.

Here's my little host - they're all open, and have been for a week. They are always the first to open for miles around, which is nice, but they tend to get battered by the March winds. You can see the rhododendron in full blossom behind. Regards - John
