I just could resist!! I just got this camera today for $10 at a yard sale. This camera is one solid piece of equipment!!! The previous owner showed me some pics she took with it last summer and they were beautiful (she went to digital)! I think $10 was a pretty fair price, IMHO. Does anyone else have any experience with these? What kind of battery does it use? etc.?

As a rule, the TLS is a perfectly capable camera. I like 'em! They do seem to be a bit more susceptible to miscellaneous faults than the more expensive cameras from Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Pentax etc. IMHO they are a bit better in assembly and reliability than similar cameras from Chinon and Cosina. Ricoh normal lenses came from the same family tree as those on Mamiya-Sekor, Yashica, and others, so are every bit as good.
The camera's meter was designed around the "625" mercury battery. There is an alkaline equivalent but it is 1.5 volts rather than 1.3 volts so the meter will be inaccurate to some degree. I leave the battery out and guess exposure settings using the "Sunny f 16" rule. With a little experience and color print film you'll be fine.
For $10.00, I'll buy every one I come across!
