I STILL have a pile of Nikons. Considering starting a collection of Ricoh SLRs and RFs.

Curt - I would love to peruse a categorized list of your collection. That is huge! Do yo have a list posted anywhere?
I would tell you that I just placed an Ebay bid on an EL (with Nikkor) today, but then I figure I might get some earnest bidding competition, so I won't. Oops.

Closest thing I have is a list of my SLRs I typed out tonight, the rest is all written down in a spiral notebook. I will PM you the SLR list since I have no idea how to post it here from MS Office.

I'm up over 100, and I'm staying there. I've got cameras falling from the woodwork! I lost count at 150. And that was years ago! Been thinking about getting rid of some of the duplicates (and ones I know I'll never use again) for months now. I vaguely recall posting something here about it, but I haven't found that round tuit that I need to get started! ;D

Ron, I really enjoyed your Mamiya website - a fantastic reference. Today I met a Craigslist seller to check out her Nikon FM and in the bag beside it was a M/S 1000 DTL. She wanted an extra $75 for it. Both cameras were dirty and banged up so I didn't purchase either of them, but it got me interested in the Mamiyas - a brand I know ZERO about. Couldn't even tell you where they were made before I scoured your site. On a funny note: "someone" had jammed the lens onto that Nikon FM almost upsite down. Not sure how they got it to mate up at all, and it appeared to scrape the mount pretty badly. I just chuckled to myself, worked the lens off gently and mounted it up properly for the seller, showing them how the dots are to line up. Thanks for the great history lesson on Mamiyas. The price point on these cameras right now are such that I might go ahead and start collecting them myself. Not holding out for a Sketch any time soon though... Best regards, Mark Thanks, Mark. It's been a labor of love for almost 10 years now. It started as a simple listing of the many Mamiya 35mm camera models, and grew from there. In fact, it's still growing! I added a Forum a while back, to help answer some of the questions I kept getting! Don't know if you saw it, but one of my pages is a Pricing page. I've been tracking auctions, eBay, camera sellers, etc. for years, and have kept a running record on Excel spreadsheets of the average selling prices of all Mamiya cameras I have seen. My web page only chronicles the ones in very all-around good shape. $75 bucks for that 1000 DTL might have been OK, if it had been in good mechanical and physical condition. But banged up ....

About the Sketch - 24x24cm is about 9 inches by 9 inches, but you're telling us it's small !

This is a total aside, but reading the caption under Ron's portrait, it occurred to me a great potential recognized but unrealized, would be the greater burden. Yeah, ok, I'll go back to playing with my cameras. LOL!! ;D That's the whole idea! Living up to a great potential is what makes it such a burden. After all, people expect great things from great potential. If you are seen to have little potential, then just about anything you accomplish can become something to rave about, and there's no burden at all to that! Hmm, yes, but the constant effort to convince the world you have little potential could be quite a burden: if you have it, that is!
