I'm Mark and I have loved cameras and photography since I was a kid. At 38 I have just began to collect cameras - something I have always wanted to do, specializing in Nikon and Minolta, MF only. Basically, the well-built mostly if not all manual heavy metal machines from the 60's & 70's. I had no real interest in Minolta until I scored a pristine X-700 (with Rokkor) on Craigslist for $15. Now I seem to enjoy them more than the Nikons, likely due to the price point. So far...
Nikon: F3, F2AS, F/FTN, Nikomat FTn, Nikkormat FT2, FG
Minolta: XE-5, SRT303b, SRTSCII, SRT201, SRT100, X-700
I like this website and appreciate being able to be a part of it.
Regards, Mark Colleyville, TX

Hi Mark, Some excellent cameras you have there.I have a few Nikkormats myself but no F3, F2AS or XE series Minoltas. Glad to see you not only found our little group but I'm pleased to see you posting. We can always use new enthusiastic members here. Too many people seem content to just lurk. C'mon folks nobody here will bite. There is no right or wrong in collecting and we actually have a few knowledgeable folks who love to help or share your photos. Anyhow just wanted to say Hello and Welcome.

Mark. Welcome from another Nikonite. I'm down to two F bodies, and FM and a D50 and D30 now after selling my F3HP last year. I'm envious of you F2AS.
Never have owned a Minolta--one of only a few brands that I haven't had at one time or another. Not sure why.

Hi mark, welcome to the group. I'm one of those lurkers that Curt was mentioning . I've been collecting cameras for a few years now, thanks to the husband, but just recently have really developed a stronger interest in them. Right now I'm trying to puzzle out a couple of arguses that found their way into my cabinet. Lots of neat things here, I'm sure you'll enjoy. Sherri

Mark, welcome to the Camera Collector. I fixed the photo you posted in the other thread. Use the code where it says "DIRECT LINK" and it will work every time.

Sherri,
It's good to hear your voice again.
" Right now I'm trying to puzzle out a couple of arguses that found their way into my cabinet.".
If you are collecting Arguses I highly recommend Henry J. Gambino's excellent book "Argomania". "A look at Argus Cameras and the company that made them". Published by Aeone Communications, 73 Old Dublin Pike, Ste. #181,Doylestown, PA 18901.
I purchased my copy directly from Mr. Gambino at percy@tradenet.net for US $26.50 instead of the listed $39.95. That was three years ago but that reduced price might still be valid.
Meanwhile if you have an Argus question I can, thanks to "Argomania", probably find an answer(s) for you.

Ha! Just scored a like-new Minolta SRT-MCII for $21. This is one of the "made for JC Penney/KMart Minolta's. In Montreal for a few days and trying to arrange for an XD-11 purchase as well. Thanks all.

Hello and welcome from another Nikon nut. While in Montreal don't forget to find a good Deli and have a Montreal smoked beef sandwich.

Hey Mark,
I'm about your age (ahem) and dig on the same genre -- heavy, mechanical, MF. I grew up with a SRT-101 (R.I.P) and am now looking to replace it with a SRT-102. After I banged the 101 into a rock while climbing a cliff it was pretty much kaput, so I don't think that line is as robust as I think they should be, but I still lust for a 102!
Found a nice XE-7 in the last year, which is a real tank. I wouldn't mind breaking into other lines, though. I remember well that a good friend from my teen years had Canon FTb that was a really serious hunk of metal ... maybe, just maybe....
