I STILL have a pile of Nikons. Considering starting a collection of Ricoh SLRs and RFs.

Hi All, I just scored a Nikkormat EL for the collection and thought I'd post a few pictures. Note the differences between the EL and the EL2. I also wanted to comment about the weight of the EL: good grief! This thing was a TANK! Meter is good, as is the battery check lamp. EL gave you the opportunity to select bulb or electronic flash in the subset of the shutter speed dial. Lift the bezel and turn to select. Also, the EL2 (shown in chrome) was given the shutter release button lock lever around the shutter release. If the camera was off, then the lock worked; in the on position the lock was irrelevant and would shoot locked or unlocked. Neither camera had double exposure control. With the EL2 came exposure compensation and a cleaner / easier to use ASA dial.

Wow. That looks mint. You are right, they are a tank. I had one that I sold to a collector in Israel back in 2002 and doubled my money on it. Maybe mine was an EL2. I think I could use AI lenses on it--can't remember for sure.

Other than a small dent in the front of the prism housing, mine is in nice shape too. Have a film in it at the moment so we'll soon see how well it works (or not).
