I decided to got to the native reserve today and for the first time attend their Remembrance Day ceremonies. There are some differences but the sentiment remains the same. The ceremony takes place on a scenic lookout about 900 feet above the city on a mountain side. The view of the surrounding area can be pretty decent too. Bob This last one is to give you an idea of the view and appropriate as the large long low white building on the foreground was where Hawker Hurricanes were built during WWII. The local airport is in the background.

Bob,
No matter where that ceremony is performed. No matter how simple or ornate I am always moved by it. A red coated Mountie, surely as much a national symbol as a beaver or a maple leaf, is always in attendance and always indicates the approval and spiritual blessings of all the Canadians who could not be there.
Thanks.

Hi Bob
Never got to see a 'Mountie' when I was over there. Thought there might have been one or two in attendance at the Grand River Pow-Wow, but my sister tells me there's a delicate situation between the police and the 'first nations' at the moment, so low profiles are in order.
Was in an office full of young people at 11 11 11. Nothing was said beforehand, but total silence descended for two minutes. Nice.
Regards - John

It moves me too, to tears mostly.
John
You don't get to see Mounties in their number ones too often here too. It is only at official ceremonies mostly. The police lined up behind the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment's representative are a part of the native police force responsible to police the reserves here.
