Actor Edward Woodward died today, aged 79. While he was probably best known overseas for his roles in "The Equalizer" and "The Wicker Man" he became one of my heroes as "Callan". One of those guys who you feel really sad about when you hear of his passing.
Regards - John

He always seemed like a class act to me and I enjoyed The Equalizer. Sorry to hear this.

Sad news indeed, John.
I first 'discovered' Edward Woodward as Callan and thought he was great.
His role in The Equaliser was very well written, and he portrayed the character as Callan would have been as an older more experienced agent.
Television drama is the poorer for his passing.
