When we went to Europe in March 2007 we spent a day in Munich. I shot the first photo in a courtyard near the city hall--The courtyard was pretty cramped and it's probably a shot a good share of tourists with their point and shoots wouldn't take. Yesterday, on a Nikon forum, someone posted the second photo which suggests we must have similar photographic eyes. The shadows suggest the pictures were even shot around the same time of day. Personally, I like mine shot better because there is less distortion. I got back as far as I could with my generic 28-105mm zoom--more like 40mm on the wide end using the Nikon D100 I had at the time. The other photographer got up closer and shot more upward My old D100 did OK against the more modern D80 which shot the the second image.

Wayne,
I prefer your picture. Not because of the distortion in the other one but because of that long, vertical shadow. I think it destroys the photo. I'll wager Photoshop could rescue it.
Yours is also sharper.

Thanks for the compliments--especially siince my camera was a generation older than his (maybe two) and my lens wasn't Nikon.
