If you are interested in German cameras, I have a new resource for you. If you go to my website and follow the "Cameras" link on this page: www.ukcamera.com/classic_cameras/camindexe.html and then select whatever make interests you, you will find quite a bit of history of the various makers (Not Leitz or Kodak). This is not a public link, as yet, as a few sections need the html changed to load the relevant pictures. Those who recognise it will know that this site was the work of Erik (Tigin) and he has been gracious enough to let me take it over & "re-host it" as he had stopped work on it and moved to Ireland where he is now a web developer. For those who are interested in German rangefinders of the fifties, I am certain you will find something there to keep you occupied for an hour or two. Peter - don't start on this too late at night or you'll never get to bed! Paul If you are German speaking, then click on the link at the bottom of the page for the German version.

Thanks for reminding me about the Tigin site, Paul. It's certainly a tour de force. I had it bookmarked but haven't been to it for some time.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone as an introduction and primer to vintage German cameras, including some I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere on the internet, and a ready and concise reference to anyone acquiring a camera from this fascinating era and wanting to know more about it. It was certainly the golden age of European cameras.
It's great that someone like you has taken it over now the Erik has moved to Ireland, and that it won't become moribund.
Best of luck with it, you've taken on quite a lot of work, I feel.
Peter

(I gather his cameras are still in Germany) For those who are interested in German rangefinders of the fifties, I am certain you will find something there to keep you occupied for an hour or two. Hello Paul, very nice site. You may consider adding the Franka cameras which were German. homepage.mac.com/mattdenton/photo/cameras/franka_solida_iii.htmlI have one and would be willing to shoot some pics of it if you like. Cheers Jules
