Got this Werra I locally, read the Butkus manual, can't load it because the film clip in the take-up spool is too tight. Probably will use a tape to test the camera, but any thoughts out there?

Julio,
Try feeding the film under the clip from its left side not the right side. The film will wind on the take up spool with the emulsion side showing. It will be a little easier if you start with a corner of the film.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm afraid that the clip was broken by the previous owner! I have now managed to slide out the take-up spool (it is held by just a linear spring), and could examine it carefully with a loupe; there is a knurled area that should have been under the clip, so as to grip the film, and a suspiciously- looking edge that might be where the clip broke out. Or maybe it was held by something in the hole looking down in this picture: A tape will do the job for the test roll, no big deal.

Hi Julio
I you decide to part with the Werra I, I will be happy to purchase it from you. I missed my chance earlier this year in a Manhattan pawn shop excursion. Won't make that mistake again!

Okat I guess I'm a tad on the late side...the picture of the take-up looks like it has a spring steel clip missing.. just had a look inside my old werra 1

I suppose you know that cone over the lens unscrews, and can be reversed to make a lens hood...

I've always thought that it is one of the nicest looking cameras going.

O.K., it's not a viewfinder Werra. But it's one of my favorites. The meter works, too.

Ooh, those are some nice cameras. Even the rangefinder/lightmeter model is incredibly clean
A Werra is 'on my list' of cameras to own. I don't think there was an importer here in NZ. I was surprised when I saw one in the flesh for the first time (in a junk shop in Prague) - the Werra is a much more imposing camera than I imagined from photos. The clean design somehow mades me think that the camera would be more diminutive than it is.
Michael.
