I just came across this Canon F1-N being offered on ebay at a starting price of US $1,000. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270609772074I would have thought they would be selling for half that, or even less, and an initial look seems to support that. Still someone might pay it - which would fit in nicely with Dee's thread on 'Perceived Value'.

Silly price .... I think that it is an F-1n. There were three versions of the F1. The original F1 and a slightly updated one, the F-1n, used a button cell battery (PX25?). The new F1 used a PX28 a silver oxide battery. I believe that you can tell the difference between the F-1 and the F-1n versions as the later one has a plastic tipped wind-on lever. The new F1 had a different body and could not use many of the accessories designed for the earlier models. Here is a picture of my F-1N ... I have an idea that Canon just called them all F-1 in their literature and that the 1n and 1N nomenclatures were user inspired.

It may be of interest to a Canon collector considering the condition, NIB, and it being unusual. That could bring the price paid way up past what one would pay for a very nice condition standard F1 to use. Setting such a high starting price may drive off many potential buyers. I think this auction would be one to watch the outcome in the final few minutes.
