We bought a framed print at auction, and as I was taking it apart to clean the glass, we found this photo behind it. It's signed "French & Garo, Binghamton , NY" ; the county historical society dated it from ca. 1905 as the photographer was in business from the 1890's until ca. 1910. No one seems to be able to find the team's logo. I guess that our next step should be a trip to the baseball hall of fame at Cooperstown and ask them. It's about an hours drive from here. Doug

I like the little lad. He seems to have attitude. He'd be about 108 now!

Curt, good detective work. Looking further, there is a fairly comprehensive run-down of the Northwestern League at www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Northwestern_LeagueFrom the cup, one would assume that Spokane Indians have won something. Looking at the lists on the above website they were league winners in 1910. Might the photo be this year? If so the manager was Dan Dugdale. Photo from his playing days: (taken from www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Dan_Dugdale). He would have been 45 when the photo was taken and I think he is the rather more portly gentleman, rather than the one holding the cup. On reading further, he certainly did become more portly www.historylink.org/index.cfm?DisplayPage=output.cfm&File_Id=3431. However this biography doesn't mention the Indians: I always wonder how much of Wiki and the like is fact and how much is (incorrect) speculation.

Hi Curt! That certainly looks like the logo on the uniforms. The only problem is the distance and date. Spokane is a very long way from Binghamton. I've just sent a message to the Hall of Fame requesting any information they might have. Dave, you're right about the cup. We tried enlarging the photo, but couldn't get any more detail out of it. I'll keep working on it.
