Hello all, i was wondering if anyone knew much about slide projectors. This projector belonged to my Great Uncle Jack way back when. I found some cameras of his and i also found this Argus slide projector (i think it can play film too, just manually). So i inspected it and took it apart a little bit, found out how it worked, checked the bulb, put it back together and it works like it is brand new!!! One thing i am not sure of is the model year of the Projector, i do know that on the side it says Argus Projector, model B. If that means anything. I am having a hard time finding anything online that is even close to what this projector looks like. My guess is 1940's, maybe early 50's. Is that a good guess? Here are some pictures of the projector. andysphotos.zenfolio.com/p616478737Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy ! This projector is from 1937 and as you guessed for slides and film-stripes. I have some similar models in my collection ( Leitz, Kodak and so on ). I don`t think that Argus had been sold here in Austria. Astonishingly they are all working, even as they spent 60 years in a basement: Good old solid quality ! PS.: I took a look at your website, i like the cars and the cameras You are reminding me of my son, who is also 18: If you do not find him behind a camera, you will surely find him working on somewhat driven by an engine. He is currently driving ( mostly repairing ) a 88`Beretta GT. MIK

What was the dead giveaway, just the way it looks? Is there a way to identify them by serial numbers? There is one number on the front bottom chrome L shaped piece, 7143. Would that mean anything?

Andy, The serial number would mean something to someone. It is always worth googling. There is often some table or other on the 'net but normally (at least when I am trying to find something out) not covering what you want to know. I see, on googling, that there is an Argus collectors group arguscg.tripod.com/id30.html. It might be the place to go. Dave.

MIckey, I don't know it is coming through on my notebook okay.
(Strange things computers and their programmes. Fylde RUFC website is not showing correctly on some computers, o9ne being my notebook. I tested on two laptops. It is working on one, but not the other. The only factor I can think of is that there is not enough RAM.)
Dave.

Mickey, i don't know its kinda weird, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I was noticing when i posted links that it would take you to the home page for Zenfolio rather than my page. I had to click on it a few different times to get it to work. Maybe this link which takes you directly to a photo would work better? andysphotos.zenfolio.com/p616478737/e320ce549Andy
