Just a quick shot from an entry level Sears 65 camera. No auto anything, rangefinder, meter or anything else to help you here. Trying to shoot a roll of fall colour, I forgot I had C-41 B+W in the camera till I rewound it and took it in for developing. Ooops.

The biggest error, processing wise, I have had was when a professional lab developed an Ektachrome reversal film for me. Unfortunately, instead of E-6 they developed it as C-41 - I ended up with a set of of green looking prints.
Autumnal colours probably don't look quite right in black and white, though the ship does.

Dave,
Autumn colours in black and white often look like infrared photos. Trees with yellow leaves in particular such as aspens and poplars are prone to that magical delusion.

Mickey,
Bob's photos elsewhere illustrate your point, which in a sense was what I was meaning. The colours just look "wrong" in black and white compared to the more normal appearance - if you see what I mean.
Dave.
