Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me understand what the effective range of focus is for the Canon Canonets (17's thru new 28's). I have a GIII QL17, QL19, QL25, and 2 of the new 28's. The reason I'm asking is that I took some photos w/ one of my 28's, and some of them seem a touch fuzzy. I was using Kodak Pro BW400CN film. The ones that are clear are within 5 to 10 feet on the distance scale, and the others are at 20 feet to infinity. I used the auto setting on the camera when taking these photos. I know that the only control you have is the f/stops, but no idea of the shutter speed when doing so.
Any help I receive is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I have understood your question correctly or not. There are many reasons that some photos can be fuzzy and others not on the same roll. The rangefinder on the camera maybe out of ajustment causing it to focus ok a certain distances and not others. There are ways to check and see if yor camera is focussing accurately at different distances and make adjustments to the rangefinder to correct for any misfocussing. I don't have any bookmarked maybe somebody else does. Anyway that is one thought.

I can't advise how to correct/adjust a rangefinder but a piece of ground or frosted glass or plastic over the film plane with the lens wide open and the shutter on time or bulb will show if the rangefinder and lens' focus agree. Mickey
