Happy Birthday from me too. I do miss the quirky sense of humour.
I did wonder a couple of months ago where John and Gene W had gone. Neither of them has posted in some time, and I haven't noticed them as being logged on. No doubt Randy can tell when they did last log on.
Dave.

If you happen to read this, John, Happy Birthday. Hope it was a good one.
Dave, John Parry last logged in on September 24 2010, but last posted on August 23. I hope he's OK.
Gene W has been away about the same time. He last logged in and posted on August 23 2010.
As far as I know he's still active as an administrator of a creative writing forum but seems to have forsaken cameras. I really miss the superb black and white pictures he used to post here.
I joined his writing forum for a time but, without wanting to sound big-headed about it, it was too much in the amateur field for me. I think Wayne will know what I mean.
Some members were (and presumably are) good enough writers but the majority seem to want to talk about writing and allied gadgets rather than firing up a word processor and actually writing.
But as they seem happy in that world far be it from me to stay there and try to change their somewhat cosy attitude. Good luck to them.

Peter,
I suppose it is the same story with most interests. Photography divides into several branches, as do sports.
In terms of writing, I do the occasional rugby report, but only on our 4th team. I was doing 4th team reports for the local paper in the late 1970s: mind you, they were proper papers then. The people writing the other reports thought I must have known one of the editors as I always had my reports boxed and in the "box seat" on the page. It was just that I understood what was easiest for the newspaper people: typed, double spaced with wide margins.
Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and there it will be: a Parry post. I hope so.

Could they have eloped?

Mickey,
Interesting theory. Sherlock Holmes would be proud of you.
