Hi ! This is my latest acquisition, found at the flea market yesterday. The camera is working and was purchased for ca. 10.- USD ( including bag ). I have never seen a "Mansfield" here before. Mc Keown mentioned that Mansfield had been a division of Argus. The Skylark ( I like the name ) was produced by Yamato ( "made in Japan" is engraved at the bottom ). Does anybody know something about "Mansfield" ? Was this a distribution company ? MIK

We used to have skylarks in the farmers' fields round here. Alas new farming methods and land being built on has finished them off. MIK, I just hope you camera doesn't suddenly fly into the air and issue tweeting noises.
Dave.

MIK:
Where do you come up with all these rare models? I've never heard of a Skylark other than a specific model of the Buick automobile.

Wasn't the former governor of California once involved with a Mansfield?

Mickey: A former governor of California--who now is the present governor of California (why would anyone WANT to be governor of California?) was formerly involved with singer Linda Ronstadt when both of them were A LOT younger.

Hi ! Last Sunday I spied this little camera at a flea market and I thought I have seen this one before. Then I remembered the Mansfield camera in my collection. The Emitax Automatic built by Yamato in Tokyo is identical in construction, the lens here is called “ Emikon “. There also exists a third name variant, the “ Palmat Automatic “. Maybe, sometimes… MIK

Yamato Kōki Kōgyō was the Japanese posr war company who made the Mansfield Brand cameras, also the Emitax version, and the Palmat variant, (different front badge) was the Yamato Palmat (Mansfield Skylark IV). Mansfield Industries of Chicago, Illinois, were the owners of the Argus line after GTE sold Argus in the early 1960's. Quite respectable cameras, typical 1950's Japanese design and performance.
