I stumbled across this brick of a camera last night at home. It was given to me by my Aunt two years ago, I shot a half roll and forgot about it so I am shooting what's left and processing the film to see what I have. The ergonomics are um... unusal.
Anyone else own this camera?

Yessir, certainly do have one of those. It was actually one of my first buys years ago so we're old friends. Ergonomics are as you said, unusual. Lens like most Fuji is pretty decent.

I have one in pretty good condition, except the aperture is stuck at f22.
The Fujinon 1:1.9 lens looks like a good one. It has several peculiar dead-end design features: wind lever and frame counter on the bottom, rewind crank on the side, focusing via thumb-wheel on the back.
I wouldn't rely on the built-in meter or auto function, but speed and aperture can be set manually. Tip: To set speeds slower than 1/30, you have to slide up the button under the RF window.
If you get some good shots with yours, please post them here for us to see!

Very nice pics.
I have a similar camera, a Fujica V2. Different meter and winder on the top, but same focus wheel and odd rewind. I have read bad things about the lens on these. The critic must've had a bad 'un judging by your results. Mine will never run again: fungus on the glass, discoloured glue in rangefinder elements, stuck shutter...too many issues. But IMHO the V2 is the most handsome Japanese compact rangefinder, and I love those 'dead end' ergonomics! I still key Fujica on my local internet auction every day ;-).

Canada has some interesting looking churches.
Coincidentally, I bought a 35 EE on Ebay a couple of weeks back which is also stuck at f22. Does anyone know if this a common fault with a quick fix (I'm an optimist).

Re: the f22 problem. I have a Fujica 35-EE. I am wondering if the Selenium photocell contacts/terminations suffer from a bit of high resistence now and again. I am unsure if this has any bearing on the f22 problem but when the meter didn't work once I tried gently pushing on the meter grid glass- RHS- and away it went. Maybe stuck aperture is due to lube migration to the blades. Dave
