I picked this up at the local flea market last weekend, along with a vintage developing tank. The bakelite cleaned up nicely, I used Turtle Wax car polish. It's got a cool mid-century modernist look to it, and might be fun to use Doug

Hi Doug ! Thats a funny little cubist styled camera ! I also have some of Herbert George`s colourful boxes, some Mark VII and some Savoy`s, but never seen this work of art. I clean them with a spray for plastic car parts. Yours looks well polished MIK

I wonder who thought that "debonair" was the correct name for it. When I first looked I thought it was a polaroid type camera.

I always thought of debonair as being top hat and tails.

Camerapedia tells me that this was also marketed as the Official Cub Scout Camera.
It is an interesting piece of design historica. My guess is that the designer of this toy camera was aiming for a press camera look - just the thing for a budding 12 year old gunning for his photography badge.
Although I am not a toy camera collector, I think that this might well have caught my eye in the flea market too. As you say Doug, a nice piece of mid-century design.

Hi there, and welcome! You should post a photo of it. If you check out the UBB code explanation, it tells you how to post. Maybe yours is a Boy Scout model. Did you ever use it?

Hi Doug ! Today I opened a almost forgotten carton from the basement, containing some plastic cameras which I purchased long time ago. And here is the brown model: I never thought that I will forget a camera from my collection Maybe I am getting old... MIK

That flash really compliments the Debonair.
