I came across a Tele-Variogon 80-240/4 in my wanderings and picked it up hoping it might be in Nikon mount. Well, it is not and I can't figure out which mount it is. Does anyone have a spare Nikon mount for this lens they would be willing to sell? It also came with a filter that was unmarked except for an orange ring around it. The orange ring marking is ringing a few very vague bells such as close up lens or just a protective lens that must be in place? Any help clearing that up would be appreciated. As a bonus it came with the pistol grip that stops the lens down and fires the camera at the same time. The real downside of this lens is that I think it has a case of fungus. I need to find somebody who can clean it at an economical rate for me. It would be a pity just to pitch such a nice lens out.

Bob, I'm sitting here holding a K-mount in my hand, and it looks very close to yours, other than the bayonet lug nearest the locking notch may be a little shorter. I don't see any linkage for auto-diaphragm operation, so I assume it must be a pre-set? Have you tried it on a K-mount body?

Yea, tried the K-mount route too but with no success. Looked like it might work too. You are right, there are no linkages to the camera for an auto diaphragm but it is not a pre-set either. The pistol grip fires the cameras shutter and at the same time stops down the aperture to the desired f stop for taking. From doing a little research on the net I think they did make a pre-set version also. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yea that is it but mine appears to be in Leica R mount. Now to find a cheap Leica SLR to see if it is R mount and get serious on cleaning the fungus out. Thanks for the help guys.
