Ivy left us today. She originally was my mother-in-law's cat. We inherited her 15 years ago. She was a tough kitty--nothing purebred about her. She survived being hit by a car, laid down on the front step and healed herself. When she was in her prime, no neighboring cat or dog dared set foot on our property. Ivy didn't growl and hiss--she attacked. She was hurting. I had to take her in to the vet. No more cats for us. I just can't do that any more. W.

Wayne,
My condolences about your loss of Ivy. I know how they attach themselves to ones heart and how greatly it pains lo lose them.

So sorry Wayne. We could never have another cat after our Smokey died.

Sorry to hear about Ivy Wayne. Loss of a pet is like a friend or family member. Time helps but you don't forget them, you treasure those memories.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your cat. I can fully understand not being able to make that trip to the vet again. Over the years it does not get any easier.

I know how you feel Wayne, we had a dog when I was a boy, and I've never wanted to attach myself to another since.

I know how you feel, Wayne.
But you might surprise yourself in a few months. My son did, when his 'best friend' for 16 years contracted a feline form of cancer and had to be euthanized. It took about six months, but he found a cute little furball with blue eyes at the pound (or rather, it found him, poking at him through the bars).
It turns out the kitten was a "ragdoll" cat, and he now weighs more than 25 pounds (not fat) and growing ... but he's intelligent, playful and absolutely dotes on my son.
The old cat is not forgotten, but there is still joy in having such a pet. Give it time.

Condolences from Mo and I, Wayne. When we lost our Roxanne, it just about did us both in. Hang in, my friend! Roy
