Take a minutes for some prayers for the people of Joplin, Missouri--hit Sunday night by a monster tornado. Much of the town totally destroyed. Eighty-nine know dead and likely to go much higher.

"Pray for Joplin" My first though was ...why Scott Joplin????he's long gone to God.. I didn't open the thread.. later on the radio news reports of the total destruction caused by that tornado.
This year all over the world there has been one disaster after another. lets hope 2012 is a TAD better.
pray for Joplin I will light a candle Colin

Randy
I hope your mom and brother are OK.
Joplin sure took one heck of a hit. I'll second hoping 2012 will be a TAD bit better for all.

Randy, I also hope that your relatives are well. I have seen pictures in the TV news last night, what a terrible natural disaster.

...and I wondered if it might be about Janis Joplin. I had not really heard the news over the weekend, so I was unaware what had happened.
Some of the photos remind me of those taken in Flanders' Fields at the end of WW I: complete devastation. Even the hospital, which one would expect to have been built to withstand nature, was badly damaged it seems.
Randy, I hope your family are safe and well.

It missed them. They aren't much for communicating.

The deat6h count is now over 120. 1,500 are unaccounted for but a lot of those are probably OK. A good share of the phones are out so it's hard to communicate. Glad your kin are OK, Randy.

Randy, it's good that your mother and brother are okay.
The news for many others is less good. Hopefully all the missing 1,500 will turn up alive and well.

Randy, I am glad that your mother and brother are safe.
As for the devastation wreaked on Joplin I can only wish for the best possible outcome for all its people.

We had a tornado hit here 4 years ago. It picked up a garage and flung it, but the house less than 20 feet away was untouched. It's strange how they hit randomly. I live about 1/8 mile from Lake Erie, and we see water spouts quite often.
