Has anyone tried one of those stand alone negative to digital scanners that retail for $80, make a 5 mpeg scan and don't need a computer hookup?
I wonder about the quality of the scan. Walmart scans at less than 3 mpeg when creating a picture CD from negatives.
I want something better than the Walmart quality but don't need something exceptional, and like the less than $100 price tag. Any opinions? Thx bob

I suppose it depends on what print size you want. I found a used epson 3590 for 50 bucks that does a great job but it has to be hooked to the computer. It will turn out monstrous files if I need them

Bob, I don't know. If you buy one let us know if it's any good - then we will know if someone else asks us. Dave. p.s. welcome.

For the same price I bought an Epson V300 flatbed scanner. It does 35mm and slides and it is pretty easy to use. They have another model that does 120 negatives, as well.
