Happy July 4 all you guys over the pond.
We don't celebrate July 4 here, but maybe we should ... for getting rid of some troublesome colonials. LOL ;D.

Hey don't blame Peter. It was a wise decision. After the revolution George III was able to save enough money, thanks to not having to send troops to defend the American colonies, to eventually make a down payment on India. Canadian white pine and beaver skins were already boosting his budget. He wasn't as loony as some would have it. Mickey

Then there's Louis XVI who I'm sure wished he had never heard of the Colonies. Bankrupted his country helping finance the war and our victory over the British monarchy gave the French people ideas.

My relatives were already here by July 4, 1776. I have records on my father's side going back to 1769 in North Carolina, and a ship's manifest for when my mother's family (which great, great I don't have in front of me) landed in Philadelphia in 1736.

Just noticed this old post of mine and had to update it. I've traced my family back to a John Her(r)on, who arrived from Ireland, landing in Virgina in 1635.

John to Ron in (almost) 400 years. Have you lost the Irish accent yet?
Do you know which part of Ireland? Whichever, he got out a few years before Cromwell got there.
