Steam died some years ago on the British Rail network. It does however live on in numerous narrow gauge and several standard gauge locations. The LLangollen line was opened in 1975 with 7¹/₂ miles of track, with plans to extend it a further few miles into Corwen. The original line suffered was axed in the 1960s cuts by the infamous Dr. Beeching.

Thomas himself travels to shows here and there. I don't think the LLangollen Railway is connected to the main network, and if so he must have arrived by truck.
