I'm happy to say my need to acquire more Soviet cameras is in submission--partially because I have examples of most of the models that interest me but probably more because the shipping charges from FSU countries have gone out of sight.
I'm also pretty satisified with my Nikon gear, especially after acquiring my first 20mm Nikkor -- a lens I wanted for a long time.
About the only thing that still trips my trigger is folding 120 cameras. Don't have one and have never had one other than a really old Kodak that didn't work.
The idea of a having a compact camera that shoots a big negative is very appealing to me.
If money was no object I suspect I would go town to the local camera shop that has had what appears to be an almost mint Super Ikonta sitting on a shelf for about three years, priced at about $500. The rangefinder is unbelievably sharp and I'm sure the lens is just as good, But $500 seem to me to be too stiff a price unless one is rolling in disposable income.
My second choice in folders would be the Mamiya 6 which just looks drop dead beautiful although the fact that it focuses by moving the film plane seems a little strange. Unfortunately a lot of other folks seem to have discovered the Mamiya, too, as bidding for them always is spirited.
I've studied the Soviet folders which are a lot cheaper but it appears that finding a good one can be difficult. Seems like virtually all of them have issues of some sort.
Of course my dream is to stumble onto a mint Ikonta at someone's garage sale but the internet has made it difficult to find bargains any more. Everyone seems to know what everything is worth.
So, for the time being I guess I'll just keep wishing. It's like buying a lottery ticket--dreaming is half the fun!
