...the name of ? who posted a few weeks back . He was from Paris, France and had numerous cameras from way back. Something cropped up the other day which rang a bell as something similar to what he had posted. I have been trying to find one of the threads he started, but I can't find him at all.
A similar thing happened a few months ago with the cine camera collector. I wanted to re-read about some of the cameras he had mentioned, but couldn't find any reference to him or his cameras.
Are threads, or at least posts, being lost somehow or is it just that I'm not looking in the right place?

Dave,
I think you mean the guy from Paris. He postet some interesting cameras, but I think he left some weeks ago and maybe he deleted his posts. Pity though, he could have been an enrichment for all of us. In his last post he wrote that he missed the discussion on "camera collecting" and classic cameras, for his taste our forum has too much of flowers, butterflies, motorized oddities and so on...

Thanks both. I think MIK has the right one. Thinking about this forum, it is much easier for a poster to remove posts, and even whole threads, than it is on many forums.
He had a wealth of knowledge and had several interesting cameras, many certainly in the vintage bracket. There are certainly several of you out there with such equipment and knowledge, and the best way to learn is from someone who knows. It's a great shame when posts are removed as much interesting information is just wiped.
The post in particular I was trying to catch up was that of the 35mm camera that someone in France had made from scratch. Maybe I'll have another look and see if I can find it.
Ah well, it's not the end of the world. C'est la vie, as they say.

Curt, thanks. I've bookmarked it now.
