Hello folks. My name's Philip and I'm of retirement age! My interest in cameras started when I was 9 or 10 and hasn't waned yet. My first camera was an Ilford Craftsman, essentially a box camera dressed up as a twin lens reflex. My first serious camera was an Agfa Sillette 35mm which I still have, in fact now I think about it I have most of the cameras I ever bought!
I still take photos, my current camera is a Sony Alpha 100 which I believe is essentially a Minolta which got caught in the sale.
As far as collecting is concerned (and I realise this is the prime interest of other readers) I collect metal bodied Minoltas and maintain them as far as possible in working condition. Sadly funds prohibit looking for the serious Minolta rarities but I enjoy keeping my eye out and we all hope we'll stumble across a really rare one we can afford don't we? My pride and joy is a black XE7 although I do also have an XK with the flash attachment that fits over the winder.
Hope that's not too much!

It seems the right place to me - welcome. There seem to be several of us "of an age". The youth policy seems to be working well. You must post your real name sometime, otherwise when anyone says "Oh, flip" you will think we are addressing you.

Welcome! The first 35mm camera I ever used was also a Silette!
