Thinning the Herd

I've been collecting Mamiya 35mm cameras for more than 40 years and I have a lot of them (one of every Mamiya 35mm rangefinder and SLR they ever made)...plus a lot of other cameras. It takes up one whole room in the house. Three barrister cases, four bookshelves, three camera cases (the big aluminum ones) and innummerable storage boxes. That doesn't include the ones I use with some regularity.

I've just finished going through everything to get rid of some things (I'm finally making good on my comment to thin the herd). My wife is ecstatic!

You will see a lot of my stuff soon on eBay. Watch for it. There are some unworking cameras that can be fixed, if you have the time (I don't anymore), some that are probably only good for parts, and some that work just fine. Plus, there are interesting lenses, books, etc.

My office is going to be many pounds lighter.

Should do likewise I know but it's just so much work to start. What name should we look for on eBay? Never know I might need one more project, LOL.

I use the same user name on eBay -- herron. Just search for that and you should see everything I list.
But don't do it just yet! My son will be here, but I'm going to Florida, so the list won't be up until mid-November!

There will be other things besides Mamiya. I have a Pentax 35mm (I'm away from the camera room, so I'm not sure which model). Also a Canon (same caveat ). I've got a black Minolta (XR-7, I believe), with extra lenses and a speed drive. There will also be a working Voightlander Bessamatic. I'll also have a couple of Speed Graphics (great condition ) on the block.

It's taken me more than a week to clean and sort things, package up those things to list on eBay, throw out a couple of worthless items and rearrange the rest.

I also donated 167 hardcover books to charity.

It's been worth it. My wife looked in and said, "It's starting to look like a room again."
