Way out of my price range.. so I will make one! My new camera project. Over the next few months I will be making something slightly different ... From as much as possible the construction will be from recycled materials. The camera will be a 5x4" monorail/flat bed. Vaguely based on the Jon Grepstad design. The lens and shutter arrived the other day. Over 70 years old it's one of the 135mm Ortagoz lenes . It's condition isn't first class has paint missing and the glass has some light fungus.. or mushrooms as the guy who sold it said .

Okay I have made a start by dismantling the goodies that I pick up at the Denmark tip shop and run them through my thicknesser . Also I had an old apple crate that had squirreled away ...that has some nice old timber.

I've seen on of those monorail things: a great way of getting from A to B in bangkok. ;D An interesting project - but didn't you think of making your own lens and shutter?

The film deck is taking shape. I did have one slight problem with the thin slats cupping, the frame for the ground glass screen should eliminate this problem.. if not Bugger!

That's a admirable project. I had a Graphic 4x5 view camera (monorail) years ago. Mostly aluminum, It was a thing of beauty. That was before photoshop and a view camera was the only way tho straighten tilting walls and mountainsides.

Hi Wayne did you also use the graflex 6 shot film holders? Fantastic design, I used them with a studio monorail many yers ago.

Spring back frame. This small frame has a dual roll it hold the dark slide in place when exposing the film and is the holder for the ground glass focusing screen.

Colin Had an adapter for film packs and a 120 roll film magazine but I only shot cut film. Nothing prettier that a 4x5 color transparency--unless its an 8x10 transparency. Never did like film packs. The film was thinner than cut film and harder to process.
