Hi all,
I recently purchased a Weltini II on Ebay Australia. It wasn't cheap, of course. I haven't tested it as yet.
It's raining here (heavily - !@*%#@), but nevertheless, I thought I'd load it with Fuji Superia 400 and head for the coast, hoping for a let up in the rain.
I inserted the film in the appropriate slot in the take-up spool and turned the winder knob - nothing happened. I tried again with a thumb moving one of the toothed wheels at the same time. This allowed me to wind the film on until the stop was reached. I released the shutter, closed the camera back and wound on again. I could feel and hear the film winding on but it felt somewhat rough so I opened the back to check out the film . It was correctly positioned on the toothed wheels and lying perfectly flat, so I closed it, carried on winding to the stop, cocked and fired the shutter then repeated the process two more times.
While the winding action felt fairly stiff (in retrospect, 'grinding' comes to mind) at least the film was moving. As I began winding on again, pressure ceased and the knob turned freely. Oh dear! (This is a family forum, after all). The film had torn apart and some of the lower perforations had been damaged.
So, friends and experts, what now?
