Our Dear Sheltie Adelaide Mary 3-6-1997 3-1-2012 Today at the vets we made that gut wrenching decision.. although she look looked in excellent condition for her age and sill loved her food. Arthritis and a collapsed trachea made walking and breathing near impossible .

My condolences on your loss of a family member. Truly "gut wrenching" as you say. So sorry.

Colin,
It is so sad to hear that. My girlfriend had to put her 14 years old dog to sleep last week. A lot of tears. My condolences,

Col,
There always comes a point when it is right to end suffering. It's never an easy decision to make, but it sometimes has to be made. Fourteen years is a long time and I bet no pet had a better fourteen years than did your Adelaide Mary.
Dave.

Went through that with our Beagle three years ago. It hurts even if it is for the best. So sorry.

Terrible decision to have to make even if it is for the best. We had to put our guy down a year ago and I still miss that face. Hope time will help with your pain.

Thanks so much guys
Andrew why Adelaide Mary .. well the choice of name start over 35 years ago when I purchased a Cocker Spaniel pup , the breeder had named him William after Prince William of Saxe-Coburg . No way am I a royalist but I was lost for a name for my first sheltie girl.. why not keep with the Saxe Coburg theme and go for Adelaide after .Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Coburg .When I lost my dear sheltie I soon purchase another.. and called her Adelaide Mary.
