Just saying hello.
Sort of fallen into collecting camera recently not intentially but there you go!
Started taking pictures with a Box Brownie in the 70's as a kid, my dad taught me and how to develop and print my own b&w film/prints. Dad had a Voigtlander Prominent from 1958 complete with all the kit. I used it as my normal camera for years but since he passed away its more senitmental value these days.
I then discovered how cheap the other Voigtlander cameras were (Vito's) so there it began now I have a few of those, Petri 7S , Yashica Campus, Yashica Minister III in the post. Not used film in anger for years but even though I have been a Pentaxian after Voigtlander and Digital I am creeping back to film. So its Rangefinders all the way for me now, looking forward to reading about your cameras in this forum.
Regards
Stan

Welcome Stan. As I wrote in another post yesterday, I am a big Voigtlander fan even if most of my cameras are not Voigtlanders. I use film as much as digital - mostly because the cameras are so much nicer.

Hi thanks for the welcome. Voigtlanders are just built so well and solid , the heavier the camera the better for me. My Pentax K5 is a heavy rascal by todays standards but thats why I like it, also the shutter sounds like an old film camera. I think you see my bias! Yet the Japanese ones I have are so well made and everything works so well.

Welcome Stan.
You have come to the right place. I am not into Voigtlander except for the splendid Vitessa L and a couple of rangefinders but they are solid, well built, attractive cameras. Pentax K-5 is my present camera.

Another very big welcome Stan, I'm from the other side of the country but I can't say I'm Voigtlander fan, although I do have 1, a R2 m mount - I think. I some times travel to the NW and have to say it doesn't always rain - not really . Danny PS Below is a digi photo of Marley Top just to prove it.

Stan,
Wonderful! Someone else form the North West. There used to be John Parry to chat with and there are some others close, but no one else actually in the North West.
It's not always raining here - unless, of course, you come from Manchester. However, the use of "there you go" could mean Merseyside.
Anyway, a warm (Wirral) welcome.
Dave.

Got to remember what chemicals to get from Ilford now its been so long since i did any developing, time to get the stuff from the loft! Digital ha whats that?!

Stan, I certainly am enjoying the K-5 but at the same time I am a little awed by its features and capabilities. There is much more to it than shutter speed, aperture and focus. I have taken almost 3000 pictures with it and find there is always something more to learn. I am about to look into front and back focusing because I don't think my photos are quite as sharp as they could be. I had a Pentax K100d prior to the K-5 but only kept it for a few years. It was an excellent camera but I found its biggest drawback was that it was a dust magnet. Every picture had to be meticulously Photo Shopped. The K-5, on the other hand has yet to show even a single speck of dust. That saves a lot of huffing and puffing. I do tend to keep my cameras for long periods of time, usually 10 or more years. My last film camera, the Canon T90, was used for 20 years. So, if this K-5 digital wonder can stand up it could be with me for ages. Mickey

Mickey, I had the same sort of problem with the Canon 30D but even more so with the Pentax *ist DS. The main problem with the latter is that it spent quite a while doing nothing, and in spite of being keep in a clean place there was lots of dust and what-have-you. It took quite a bit of sensor cleaning to get it clear. There are no such problems with the Canon 7D. As with other recent cameras the sensor shakes, rattles and rolls itself clean. Additionally there is "dust delete data", If the sensor is, for whatever reason, dirty you take a photo of a white sheet, which records where the dust spots lie. The provided software can then 'photoshop' the spots away automatically. I've never had to use this though as the automatic sensor cleaning always seems to do the job. Dave.

Thanks for the very warm welcome everyone.
I am in North Manchester (even wetter than Manchester!).
Mickey funny you should mention the tech on the K5, I do experiment with it but as I am usually in a hurry, I grab it and go. Love that camera and it has to last me about 10 years. My first Digi was also an IST DS , well made but slow to focus under darker conditions whilst my old film MZ-7 was super fast focus. Still have these cameras, then spotted a cheapish K100D in Asda (supposed to be my camera in the car - just in case) but I worry about the damp and cold so never have dont that! - You can see they way my mind works...... The K5 has so much tech it could probably manage a trip to Mars by itself!

Hye,
Are you far from Puylaroque? I know someone who comes from there. I've driven up and down the RN20 several times over the years and have stayed on a couple of occasions at the Hotel La Roque in Caussade.
Dave.
